Delta Space Mission is a Romanian science fiction feature film. It was directed and written by Calin Cazan and Mircea Toia. It is about a space station crew who have to correct a rogue AI controlling a mobile spherical space station who has fallen in love with a pretty alien woman. It sounds pretty daft, but it has its moments.
At first the crew is unaware of the space station's strange predicament. The station sends out weird technological golems one by one but nobody knows at first where they're coming from or why. I'll stop describing the plot there as to avoid spoiler except to say that a large part of the film takes place on an alien planet.
The dialogue isn't super detailed but good enough to get the ideas across without seeming forced. That's good, because the human animation suffers from both rotoscope and limited tv style poses. The other characters are done in a more cartoony style. The designs and movement of the aliens are one of the highlights of the film. The music is somewhat distinctive, an electronic score that adds a lot of 80s charm to the film.
The movie is pretty good but not quite very good. I give the film a score of 7 out of 10.
